Red Chilli, a major crop of Pakistan, is not only an important ingredient in food but is also used for essence production. Chillies are one of the largest traded spices in the International market. The total current production of Red Chilli in Pakistan is 90,000 tonnes. In Sindh, Chillies are grown on an area of 38.4 thousand hectares with production of 53.7 thousand tonnes. The average yield of 1.7 tons per hectare contributes 1.5 per cent of the country’s GDP.
